Procedure

Procedure is the specification of a series of actions to be accomplished in a specific way or order and acceptable behaviors, outcomes and results in compliance with control requirements of policy.

Procedure Capability

The procedure capability is the process capability system which functions to realize standard operating procedures, program/project procedures, practices, methods, instructions and other business process assets.

The purpose of the procedure capability is to enable and assure the abilities of the procedures controlling the activities of the enterprise.

Procedure Management

Procedure management is the process capability management of the procedure capability.

The purpose of procedure management is to enable and assure the management and abilities of the procedural capabilities of the enterprise are controlled, balanced and aligned to the mission and needs of the enterprise as a whole.

Procedure Management Responsibilities

The process manager role is responsible for procedure management of the procedure capability.

Procedure management work products include procedure management ideas, requirements, plans, risks, opportunities, reviews, decisions and action items.

Procedure Architecture

The procedure architecture is the process architecture of procedure management of the procedure capability.

The process manager role uses the procedure architecture to support procedure management responsibilities and activities.

The purpose of the procedure architecture is to provide a management structure to enable and assure the procedure capability of the enterprise is controlled, balanced and aligned to the mission and needs of the enterprise as a whole.

The structure includes standard operating procedures, program/project procedures, practices, methods, and instructions.

Procedure Architecture Responsibilities

The process architect role is responsible for architecting the procedure architecture in support of the procedure management responsibilities of the process manager role.

Procedure architecture work products include procedure architecture concepts, descriptions, models, views, viewpoints, specifications and analyses. A specific example is a procedure tree.

Process Team

As shown in Figure 55 – Procedure Team Concept, procedure is interconnected with and interdependent on compliance and integration, operations, data, configurations, records, information utilization, system solution and service solution.
