Applications management is the IT capability management of the applications capability.
The purpose of applications management is to enable and assure the management and abilities of the IT applications capabilities of the enterprise are controlled, balanced and aligned to the mission and needs of the enterprise as a whole.
Applications Management Responsibilities
The IT manager role is responsible for applications management of the applications capability.
Applications management work products include applications management ideas, requirements, plans, risks, opportunities, reviews, decisions and action items.
Applications Architecture
The applications architecture is the IT architecture of applications management of the applications capability.
The IT manager role uses the applications architecture to support applications management responsibilities and activities.
The purpose of the applications architecture is to provide a management structure to enable and assure the applications capability of the enterprise is controlled, balanced and aligned to the mission and needs of the enterprise as a whole.
The structure includes content, collaboration, communication, customer relations, resource planning, finance and monitoring applications.
Applications Architecture Responsibilities
The IT architect role is responsible for architecting the applications architecture in support of the applications management responsibilities of the IT manager role.
Applications architecture work products include application architecture concepts, descriptions, models, views, viewpoints, specifications and analyses.
Applications Team
As shown in Figure 66 – Applications Team Concept, applications is interconnected with and interdependent on integration, portfolio, data, configurations, records, system abilities and service abilities.
